BAB 3dJ : tRIGRAF dge, igh, tch (SLIDES/MENGEJA)
Trigraf adalah gabungan tiga huruf yang menghasilkan hanya satu bunyi. Di bawah ini kita perhatikan beberapa contoh gabungan dari kumpulan ini;
a. ‘dge’ = mengguna bunyi huruf /j/ (j for jam)
b. ‘igh’ = mengguna bunyi huruf panjang ‘ī’, - iaitu sebutan nama huruf vokal /i/ dan ‘gh’ tidak kedengaran.
c. ‘tch’ = mengguna bunyi digraph /ch/, huruf /t/ disenyapkan.

Dari segi bentuk, posisi mulut dan lidah cara untuk menyebut /ch/ dan /j/ adalah sama tetapi bunyi yang dikeluarkan berbeza; /ch/ tidak bersuara (unvoiced) dan /j/ bersuara (voiced).
